What We Do

Given Carib Fiber Arts's dedication to the re-introduction, development, and dissemination of loom culture in the Caribbean region, we willingly perform several valuable functions.

We research and write articles pertaining to fiber culture and the socio-historical context within which all fiber artisans operate.

We offer instruction in fiber—from knowledge of textiles to making to preparing work for display.

We are a valuable how-to fiber-related database. If we don't know the answer, we will do the research and share the information.

We provide guidance to those who want to make a business out of their fiber work via how-to’s for members:

  1. Defining oneself as a fiber professional: bio, artist statement, and résumé.
  2. Presenting work to a global audience: photography hints and tips.
  3. Establishing a small fiber craft business: business planning and marketing.
  4. Selling work: venues and outlets for the fiber artist.

Thus, we introduce regional fiber artisans to the work of textile designers, dyers, weavers and other makers; we expand the scope of their knowledge and abilities; and, we provide a firm foundation for the continued development of Caribbean fiber culture.
